The Mission is to make you a SAFER RIDER

  • Two Facts: 74% of DoD motorcycle fatalities take place on a supersport style bikes and the majority of single vehicle motorcycle incidents occur in a corner.
  • Military Track Days are events that provide military members (active & reserve), DoD government civilians, dependents (18+), military retirees, veterans and DoD contractors (space available) an opportunity to get on a closed course circuit with coaches and mentorship to improve their riding skills. Riding on a closed course circuit allows you to apply proper techniques at more realistic speeds without the hazards faced on public roads.
  • Military Track Day events will focus, first and foremost, on safety. Our track day allows EVERYONE a place to work on their skills and enjoy the track in as safe an environment as possible. Our events are "A GENTLEMAN’S TRACK DAY", NOT A RACER'S OPEN PRACTICE.
  • KEY POINT: No one wins a track day, you participate to improve skills and to have fun. Treat everyone with respect.
  • Track days are one of the best investments in riding skills development that money can buy. They are the most effective, exciting and fun way to improve your riding skills…period!
  • Riders who are not comfortable or don’t have trust in leaning a bike into a turn tend panic, stand the bike up and run off the road; even though they and the bike had more available. Those who have learned to correctly apply eyes, brakes and body will learn how to lean deeply and trust their bike and be much more likely to remain in control; making it around the corner or obstacle. A track day allows you to realize that don’t have to go faster to see just how capable your bike is at slowing and turning. The track is the ideal venue to apply and practice Trailbraking, a vital skill to have for safe street riding. The beauty of riding on a racetrack is that you visit each corner multiple times so you can perfect your technique as the day goes on. After a day at the track you will brake and corner with more confidence and control. Using your time at the track to develop riding skills will allow for more automatic responses to challenging situations on the street.
  • Military Track Day events are organized by service members for service members. The coaches and track mentors have extensive riding resumes and are there to help you become a better rider.
  • If you own a supersport, naked, standard, sport touring or motard you owe it to yourself to experience a track day at least once.
  • Check out the events page for upcoming dates and to get signed up send me an email. I look forward to spinning some laps with you! Steve

Track Day Misconceptions

Most people initially think “DANGEROUS” when they hear “racetrack or track day”, but riding on a track is infinitely safer than being on the road. Even though you will be riding on a racetrack, it doesn’t mean you have to go much faster than you do on the street. Track days allow you to go as fast as you dare without any pressure. Additionally Military Track Days always start the day off with a classroom session and there is dedicated coaching for track day participants. If you are comfortable riding around corners on the street, then there is no reason why you can't do a track day. At the end of the day you will be exhilarated and worn out - but your riding skills will have vastly increased.

It is also a myth that that a high-performance supersport bike is required for a track day. In fact, the contrary is true. Military Track Day events are open to motards, standards and nakeds to name a few and all are great bikes for track days. You don't need a race license; just a well-maintained motorcycle and some protective riding gear. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the protective gear; leather suits and above the ankle race style boots can be rented.

Riding on a Race Track

Riding on a closed circuit race track allows you to focus all your attention on honing your riding skills and applying advanced techniques.

Parking lot courses have their place but they can’t replicate training on a closed course circuit which allows you to ride at more realist speeds without the concerns of the typical hazards faced on public roads. You get to improve your riding skills while exploring the limits. The riding techniques you will apply on the track are transferable to street.

The goals are to be safe, learn advanced techniques, become a better rider, socialize with fellow uniformed enthusiasts and have fun. If you have a CAC or DoD identification you’re eligible to participate. So come join your fellow service members and ride your bike like it was meant to be ridden.

CAN'T is a four letter word....

I’m not comfortable doing a track day yet.
Nervous? If so, then rest assured that you’re not alone. Riders will be broken down into two or three group levels so you will be matched to similar speeds and experience.

I don’t have Proper Riding Gear
If you don’t own a leather (one piece or two piece) suit, you can rent it. You should already have a good full face helmet and gloves.

I am worried about crashing my bike.
It can happen on the track, but it is more likely and can also happen on the street (with more severe consequences). There are no curbs, trees, mailboxes or oncoming vehicles to run into, so serious injuries are rare. Track day crashes usually happen because the rider pushed too hard before they learned to manage the speed.

It’s too expensive. Why should I pay to ride?
A track day is cheaper than one speeding ticket and it makes no sense to risk serious injury, a speeding ticket, and insurance points imitating Marc Marquez on the street!

I don’t have a way to get to the track.
Most of the riders are from your local installation and we will try to connect participants so you can ask for help getting your bike and yourself to the track. If it comes down to it, just ride your bike there; many people do.
