FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) AND INFORMATION
EVENT CANCELLATIONS:
We will ride rain or shine so plan accordingly. Only the track can cancel an event. This will normally only happen if there is a named storm that is going to impact the track and/or nearby areas of the surrounding states making riding or traveling to or from the facility dangerous. Jennings GP handles water very well but if rain is in the forecast DOT tires should be a consideration, plan accordingly.
REFUNDS:
Refund policy will be stipulated and agreed to during registration via Track Rabbit. The refund policy is as follows:
- Full refunds will only be given for cancellations 30 days or more prior to an event.
- 50% refunds for cancellations 29-16 days prior to an event.
- No refunds will be given for 15 days or less before an event.
FACILITY:
AMENITIES:
Jennings GP has the basics. Classrooms and bathrooms with showers but does not have much more than that. Be sure to put the following on your list: water/beverages (non-alcoholic), food/snacks and extra fuel for your bike. It’s also a good idea to bring some type of shade/awning and a chair to relax between motos.
CAMPING:
Jennings GP allows camping at the track. Primitive camping is free. If you have a toy hauler / camper and require 30/50amp hookups, you must coordinate directly with Jennings GP.
Gates to the facility are normally locked by 9:30PM. If you arrive after the gate has been locked, do not jump the gate. Jennings GP takes this very seriously and may not allow you access to the facility should you do this.
It is advised to call Jennings GP to ensure that they know you are planning on camping.
EXHAUST NOISE LIMIT:
There is a very strict Maximum 104db exhaust noise limit. This is a county ordinance and must be adhered to. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, ensure you have your baffle. There are options to use baffling material at the track. The following exhausts have been banned by Jennings GP: Any and all megaphone style exhausts such as: GP1, Arrow GP2/Pro Race, and SC Projects S1.
ALCOHOL AND DRUGS:
Jennings GP do NOT allow alcohol and/or drugs (even prescription, i.e. medical marijuana) This topic is taken very seriously at all tracks and violations will not be tolerated. Open containers of alcohol are not allowed at the track until the track goes cold at the end of the day and the event is over. This means from the time you arrive until the end of the day, no one in your group opens a container of alcohol. You, the rider, are responsible for your pit crew, friends and family. If ANYONE within your group is caught with an open container of alcohol or using controlled substances while the event is running, your entire party will be escorted off the premises. Jennings GP policy.
RIDER'S MEETING:
The rider's meeting is MANDATORY, very important and non-negotiable. If you do not attend the rider's meeting, you will not be allowed to ride until you can be given the day's details by staff. Keep in mind, if the staff are working, you will be waiting in the pits until we have time to go over all the information with you. You may miss a session, two, three .... This is for your safety and the safety of all your fellow riders. So show up early, have all your gear organized and prepared so you have a good day at the track.
PASSING RULES:
Freedom Motorsports utilizes YCRS CHAMP protocols for passing which are Riders MUST be parallel to or going away from (diverging lines). Another way of looking at this rule is that you must be parallel to the rider being passed or the rider being passed should be moving away from the passing rider. While this does not guarantee an accident-free day, it does reduce the chance for collision. By adhering to these protocols, should you make a mistake, you can ride off the track by yourself and not take out a fellow rider. Corner workers and coaches keep a careful eye on this and you will only get two warnings, the third time and you’re out. Also, your passes need to be wide and courteous, giving your fellow rider plenty of room. Clean, courteous, SAFE passes (minimum 6 feet between bikes including the finish of the pass) are a must. Do keep in mind that every outside pass does become and inside line at the next corner. If a faster rider is attempting a pass, please restrain from “drag racing” that rider to the next turn; expecting a reprimand to the passing rider for an potentially dangerous pass that you caused.
What a racer considers a “safe pass" and what we consider giving room is very different. All passing, must be kept at a minimum of 6 feet (one bike length) all the way around the rider that you are overtaking including after the overtaking maneuver is completed. If you stuff, come within elbows distance or nearly clip a front tire of a rider, making what we consider an unsafe pass, you will have your track privileges revoked without refund. This must be addressed so that there are no misunderstandings regarding the our passing philosophy and goals in providing EVERYONE a safe place to ride. While there is no guarantee against human error or negligence, it’s asked that you do everything you can do to insure everyone's safety. Bottom Line is that AGGRESSIVE riding is prohibited. Save it for race days. Be kind to your fellow rider. Anyone endangering the event or another rider will be removed from the track.
JENNGINGS GP NO PASSING AREAS FOR FREEDOM MOTORSPORTS EVENTS:
There is NO PASSING in Turns 2 (from the exit of corner 1) and Turn 12 (from the exit of corner11). Reasons will be highlighted at the Rider’s Meeting.
WHAT IF YOU CAN’T GET AROUND A SLOWER BIKE?
Even a slower rider (in the corners) can hold you up in the straights if their bike makes more power and accelerates faster. In these cases, do not try and force the pass. Instead, simply come into the hot pit, wait for the rider to continue, then pull back out onto the track. You probably won’t encounter that rider again during the session. REMEMBER: THIS IS NOT RACING!
NO STUFFING!
What is stuffing? Stuffing is defined as "any time you make a pass that causes the passed rider to alter their riding style, race line or stand them up." Here's an example: Let's say you make a pass around a rider and cut back in front of him/her entering a turn. You think it's a safe pass but the rider you just passed is having to grab the front brake to keep from hitting your tailsection. You just STUFFED the rider. OR you make a pass and the rider has to change his/her line entering the turn. Again, you just STUFFED the rider. In both cases, you are violating our rules.
REMEMBER: This is only a track day. Unsafe riding is prohibited.
NO BIKE CONTACT:
In the event you make a mistake and make contact with another rider, you are done for the day.
TWO FALL LIMIT:
What does this mean? Let's say you're feeling "spirited" and riding a bit over your head. If you go off the racing surface and FALL (be it 5 mph or 50 mph+), that's number one. If you FALL again, you're done for the day. Constant off-track excursions should tell you that you are riding over your head. You are an endangerment to yourself and riders around you. You will be medically evaluated and your bike and safety gear MUST be teched again before being allowed back on track.
TWO WHEEL POLICY - NO WHEELIES
Gratuitous or intentional wheelies are not allowed. Period. Sometimes the front end gets light and the front tire dances a few inches off the ground. If it does, don’t allow it to get out of hand and set it back down. If Superbike and MotoGP riders with lighter more powerful bikes can keep the front end on the ground, so can you.
RIDER PROTECTIVE GEAR REQUIREMENTS
SAFETY GEAR: Must meet minimum requirements or you will not be allowed on track.
HELMET: Full Face Helmet (DOT, SNELL, ECE 22.05 or FIM ratings) modular helmets are discouraged if have one of these ratings will be allowed
SUIT: Leathers (Full Suits or Two-Piece (full 3/4 zipped not 6”)). Cordura suits are not allowed.
Boots: Over the ankle boots. High Ankle Street Riding boots, Hiking Cordura or Military are not allowed.
GLOVES: Gauntlet Gloves with wrist closure are required.
RECOMMENDED SAFETY GEAR: Back Protectors, base/under layer (like under armor), ear plugs and rain gear (big enough to go over your leather suit) are highly recommended.
GEAR RENTAL:
Jennings GP does have leather suits, boots and gauntlet gloves for rent. Rentals are coordinated directly with Jennings GP. It is recommended that you have your own gloves as their rental selection is limited.
TIRE SERVICE:
Come with your bike prepped and ready for tech. Freedom Motorsports does NOT schedule Jennings GP tire service for the beginning of our events. Depending on demand we may or may not schedule tire service. If tire services are coordinated it will be for the end of the first day and beginning of the second day. Plan accordingly.
MOTORCYCLE RENTALS:
Jennings GP does have motorcycles for rent. This must be coordinated directly with Jennings GP at a minimum of one week prior to the event.
MOTORCYCLE PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS
Bring extra fuel; as you will probably go through an entire tank during the day.
TAPE IT UP
Tape over ALL lights and Glass (to include mirrors). All glass and lights MUST be tapped over; if possible it is recommended to remove mirrors. Painters tape is recommended but duct tape can also be utilized to cover the headlight, taillight, turn signal lenses and reflectors, so they don’t shatter if they come in contact with the racetrack, necessitating lengthy cleanup and hence, less track time for all. If possible, unplug lights or pull fuses so lights are off as the tape can melt onto light housing from bulb heat. **If you do remove fuses remember to replace fuses after the track day. **
Duct tape should also be affixed over the wheel weights to keep them from flying off at speed.
It is also recommended to tape over your speedometer readout.
Tires must be in good condition with good tread depth. Ensure your brakes pads have sufficient material (front brake pads in particular). New tires are a good idea for a day at the track and are recommended. Sport or race compound tires are recommended. Normally each tire manufacture will have track air pressure recommendations; check their websites. **Track day tire pressures are normally considerably lower than street pressures.** Tires and brakes are two of the most important items to help ensure a safe day at the track.
Sidestands are permitted and are not required to be zip-tied up unless the side stand engine kill switch fails to work during tech. **side stand engine kill switch must be operational**, If not you will be required to zip-tie the kickstand in the up position.**
Remove license plate. Zip Tie or tape any passenger pegs.
While NOT required for Freedom Motorsports events the following bike preparations should be considered:
Break Lever guard. Liquid Cooled bikes: Run water or racing approved coolant (i.e. engine Ice, MoCool ect.) No anti-freeze if possible. Safety Wiring and safety recommendations:
- Oil Filter safety wired
- Oil Fill Cap (safety wired or secured with Hi-Temp Silicone)
- Oil Drain Plug (safety wired or secured with Hi-Temp Silicone)
CAMERA POLICY
If you are doing helmet and/or bike camera/video - you MUST take your camera and setup (helmet or bike) through Tech to be approved. Camera mounts cannot just be “suction cupped” to the bike or rider. They must be hard fastened and safety wired.
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED ITEMS to consider for your first time to a track:
Air Pump & Tire Pressure Gage.
Pop-Up Canopy or other type of awning, chair, a mat or some type of padding for your knees in case you need to work on your bike.
Cooler with plenty of fluids and snacks/food for the day.
Tools. Do an inventory of your fasteners and try to have the tools to fit them. Selection of sockets & wrenches, Allen / Hex and torx, adjustable wrench, zip-ties, power drill with assortment of bits, safety wire, tape (electrical, masking, painters, & duck).
If you have spares (clip-ons, rear sets, levers etc..) items on your bike that might touch the ground, bring them. Nothing worse than ending a day or weekend with a broken item when you have a spare at home.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE RULES ARE BROKEN?
Do you really need to be told? At the mandatory rider's meeting on the morning of our event, we will go over all of these rules. That will be your only warning. Reprimands are at the track director and organizer’s discretion which range from having you sit out a session or two to having you pack up and go home. Riding on a racetrack is very fun. It is also dangerous; therefore, we cannot allow any rider to jeopardize another rider's safety including themselves. Follow the rules, use common sense and everyone will have a safe, fun and fast day. Thanks!
